September 29, 2019 by Seth in Philippines Summer 2018, Travel

Cebu City

To Eat and Drink

Chinese Ngohiong - ALL the fried food

Paolito’s STK TA BAI - Incredible lechón at SM City Cebu Mall

Elicon House - Hotel/restaurant where we had breakfast a couple of times

Draft Punk - A cool bar we stopped at one night for beers and live music

To See

Fort San Pedro - Old Spanish fort near the ocean. Full of history

Plaza Independencia - Square outside the fort with statues and monuments

Magellan’s Cross - Supposedly the cross Magellan planted when he landed in Cebu, now covered in a newer cross for protection

Basilica del Santo Niño - Big Catholic Church near the cross

Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House - Old ancestral house full of old things

Heritage of Cebu Monument - Large statue/monument commemorating the history of Cebu

How I got there

We flew straight into Cebu City

Bantayan Island

To Eat and Drink

Stumble Inn - Great apple pie and cheesecake and run be a really nice couple

Giordano’s - Our favorite spot for breakfast on the island.

HR Music Bar and Native Restaurant - We really enjoyed the sinigang (a kind of soup) here

Baia Spaghetteria - Great pasta if you’re looking for some Italian food

Bantayan Burrito Company - Great texmex style food. Don’t miss the fish tacos

To See

Sugar Beach -Llong beach along the south of the island

Fiesta - Parties around the island held during the summer

Ogtong Cave - Cave on grounds of a hotel. ₱200 entrance into the hotel grounds. I didn’t enjoy it all that much

Diving Cliff - Bluff over the ocean. Not sure if you can actually jump or not

Oboob Mangrove Garden - Protected mangrove swamp next to the coast. ₱50 entrance fee.

“Lagoon” - I didn’t get the official name of this place but it was long and flat next to the ocean. Plenty of shallow water for exploring. ₱10 to get in

Virgin Island - Small island off of Bantayan Island. Not many people and fish to see close to shore. Have to pay for a boat to get there and an entrance fee

Santa Fe Butterfly Garden - Cafe with a butterfly garden where you can walk around looking at butterflies

To Stay

Adelaida Pensionne Hotel - Pretty nice place right near Santa Fe

How I got there

We took a bus from Cebu North Bus Terminal to Hagnaya Port, then took a ferry to Santa Fe

All these prices were for when we went to Bantayan Island. They may have changed. To see more about these places check out the full posts about both cities here and here.
